On January 26, 1950, the Constitution of India was signed and India was declared a republic. It’s a day, which every Indian is proud of. With the same pride the 66th Republic Day of India was celebrated on January 26, 2015, Govt. College Kotkapura, by its faculty, staff and students.

Admission 2023-24

Registration for admission to first year of all UG and PG classes has started on Punjab Govt. Online Centralized portal (admission.punjab.gov.in). Students who want to take admission in this college must register on the above portal.

Those students, who want to take admission in Second and Third year of any course available in this college must apply online before 08-08-22 by clicking STUDENT PORTAL link on this page

First Year Students of this college need not to apply for Second and Third year of course.

Library

A college is considered as an academic institution of higher learning offering three-year
degree courses. In colleges, the library occupies a prominent position and it is an
important and integral part of the teaching programme. It is not merely a depository of
books, but an active workshop instrument in the production of or original thinking. The
aim of college education and college libraries in inter-related. College library extends
opportunities for self-education to the deserving and enthusiastic students without any
distinction. These libraries develop in each student a sense of responsibility in the
pursuit of knowledge. College library stimulates the students to obtain, evaluate and
recognize knowledge and to familiarize themselves with the trends of knowledge for
further education and learning new disciplines.

Blood Donation Camp

With the motto ‘Donate Blood, Donate Life’, We took some time off from regular academic schedule for a noble cause and organized a voluntary blood donation camp in our college campus which received an excellent response from the students and staff. This serves as a motivating factor for the donors; encouraging them to actively participate in blood donation camps in the future and contribute towards society.

NSS Camp

The National Service Scheme is an Indian government sponsored public service programme conducted by the Ministry of youth affairs and Sports of the government of India. Popularly known as NSS, the scheme was launched in Gandhiji’s centenary year in 1969. Aimed at developing student’s personality through community service, NSS is a voluntary association of young people in colleges.

The programme aims to instill the idea of social welfare in students, and to provide service to society without bias. NSS volunteers work to ensure that everyone who is needy gets help to enhance their standard of living and lead a life of dignity. In doing so, volunteers learn from people in villages how to lead a good life despite a scarcity of resources. It also provides help in natural and man-made disaster by providing food, clothing and first aid to the disaster’s victims.

At national level, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of India is the nodal authority, which works with state-level NSS cells. State-level NSS cells are responsibility of the respective state governments. Within states, each university has University level NSS cell under which institutions (schools and colleges) based NSS units operate. Most government and government-aided institutions have volunteer NSS units. They are managed internally by a responsible party from the school or college, who reports to the regional NSS coordinator.

Activites

There are two types of activities : Regular Activities(120 hours) and Annual Special Camp(120 hours). All the NSS Volunteers who have served NSS for at least 2 years and have performed 240 hours of work under NSS are entitled to a certificate from the university under the signature of the Vice-Chancellor and the Programme Coordinator. The Annual camps are known as Special Camps. Camps are held annually, funded by the government of India, and are usually located in a rural village or a city suburb. Volunteers may be involved in such activities as:

Cleaning
Afforestation
Stage shows or a procession creating awareness of such issues as social problems, education and cleanliness
Awareness Rallies
Inviting doctors for health camps

There are no predefined tasks, it is left up to the volunteers to provide service in any way that is feasible. Camps typically last between a week and 7 days, although camps for shorter periods are also conducted by NSS.

Teachers Day Celebration

GCG Kotkapura College, celebrated Teachers’ Day with great zeal. Various activities were held such as singing, dancing, modelling, etc. Committee president congratulated the teachers and said that we were indebted to our parents for our living, but to our teachers for living well.

Retirement Celebration

G.C Kotkapura College of Education organized a retirement party for S. Ajit Singh, Librarian in the college, who after 33 years of meritorious service retired from the college on November 30, 2018. The function started with the recitation of College Shabad which was followed by floral welcome to S. Ajit Singh and his family by the college.

World Environment Day Celebration

GC Kotkapura College celebrated World Environment Day on 5 June 2021. On this occasion a guest lecture was arranged on the topic on ‘Bioplastics-An Eco-friendly. In his lecture, he delineated the enormous usage of plastics and their impact on the environment and suggested cloth bags and biodegradable plastics as alternates.
